sorry ... Hi Lisa, Usually red skin is a common thing for chickens who have lost feathers and the skin is exposed to the sun so it is more or less like a sunburn. If the red skin is under the feathers and there are no mites or lice causing an irritation then I'm really not sure. (deleted contact info)

actually a couple of my chickens have it. You know Lisa, it's hard to say what his appetite is because I haven't quarantined him yet so I dont know when her eats, but he doesnt look skniny. I'll try to get a hold of him and take a picture. YOU are always so helpful. Thank you. wish we could meet.

hmmm just looked in my chicken books, it doesn't seem like they would, unless it's just a general irritant and causing inflammation let me ask my chicken doctor, I'll send out an email but before I do let me clarify, the skin is red under the feathers, no loss of feathers or scaly patches, no behavior differences or loss of appetite? Only one rooster has the red skin and it's recent?

no feathers missing. he is a rooster. no picking. and he shakes his head from side to side, in kinda a Queen Latifa way. the redness is on his whole body.

some of my chickens have terribly red skin, almost rashy looking all over their body. anyone have this experience with their birds?
