Another issue with my chickens is they have been eating their feed at lightning speed. I give my birds 25lbs and it is gone in one day (at the most)! I have about 45 chicken, and I know that that is a lot, BUT JESUS! They are sending me to the poor house at this rate! I thought it might be my turkeys(10) but I separated them and that doesn't seem to be the problem. AND THEY STILL ACT LIKE THEY ARE STARVING TO DEATH. What to do, what to do!?

buy a back of rolled corn and mix the two

corn is cheap and a good filler

25lbs in a day for 45 chickens seems a ton, unless they the cornish cross

I haven't heard of rolled corn before. I got cracked corn. The guy at the feed store wasnt familiar either.
wonder if it is called something else around here.

25 pounds a day? I have 34 chickens and 10 ducks and I maybe go through 10 pounds a day, total. What are you feeding them? Mine get a combo of basic scratch (cracked corn, milo, and wheat) along with sunflower meats. My birds pretty much ignore the corn.

I feed them FLOCK RAISER (Purina, no antibiotics) which is a turkey, duck, chicken scratch. Yesterday was just horrible. I went out to the barn to feed them and one of my Sebrites was lieing dead outside the door with blood on her head. Then I went in to feed them and there was a mad rush to get to the food and in the process one of my Whiteface Spanish got his neck broken :( I then was looking around if anyone layed any eggs and found one of my Cayuga drakes dead. What the F#$%*!!!!! Last week we found a Silkie dead in the barn. Unbelievable. They act so ravenous and I feed them!!
Yesterday I bought them the 2 50# of Flock raiser, 100# bag of cracked corn, and 50# 21% protein for my turkeys.

can they be separated into smaller feeding lots? they sound overly aggressive / over-crowded? That sounds like stressed-out behavior.

I separated the 10 midget white turkeys. I think I will separate my Delawares. The problem is is that they are free range so that would require retraining or confinement to their particular area. They have a lot of space that is why it is so curious.
