For those of you who could attend, I just found out there's going to be a large national poultry show at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds on January 28 and 29. There are supposed to be over 3000 birds being shown. The group putting it on is the Pacific Poultry Breeders Association.
I'm having trouble finding more specific info, but here's the fairgrounds calendar:

Re: Poultry Show, Stockton, Ca, January 28 and 29, 2006
Tue, January 3, 2006 - 11:24 AMHi Hen,
Just read an email that our local show, the first part of Feb, will be a Cal Nat show as well, so we should have larger numbers of birds than normal. For those in the real northern part of California I will try and get more info asap

Re: Poultry Show, Stockton, Ca, January 28 and 29, 2006
Sun, January 29, 2006 - 12:25 PMThe show was awesome...and D Guy enabled me by giving me a cardboard carrier, so I ended up buying two silkie pullets after all. We are unquestionably full on chickens now. -

Re: Poultry Show, Stockton, Ca, January 28 and 29, 2006
Tue, January 31, 2006 - 1:08 PMThey're doing really well (I just posted a picture of em). We kept them in a large dog carrier the night we got them home, because it was rainy and miserable. We tried handling them the next day, but they were shaking with fear, so we moved them out to the pen in a big mesh doored doghouse on top of the main coop and gave them some crumbles, dandelions and rice noodles, which made them overjoyed.
Our other chickens have been checking them out, but our #2 chicken, who is a nasty bitch, is the only one who did the I'm-gonna-kick-your-ass dance in front of the doghouse door so far. The new ones don't seem to care at all and seem very relaxed. They show no interest in coming out, and cower back in fear when you open the door. Who knows, they may have more room than they had in their last place.
One of my roommates asked me if they were really chickens. -

Re: Poultry Show, Stockton, Ca, January 28 and 29, 2006
Mon, January 14, 2008 - 8:15 AMI don't even know if they're having it this year! But I assume they are. There my knowledge ends.
Too bad the calendar for the fairgrounds in the link shows events for last month. You could try calling the fairgrounds, though.
